It is the declared goal of the International University in Germany, Bruchsal (IU) to prepare its students through their studies so that, upon their graduation at the latest, they will have the necessary skills and the knowledge to understand, evaluate, and manage the realities of the current economical environment. To this end, not only technical skills and academic knowledge are needed. To enter the job market, very practical knowledge is needed as well. In order to help the students at an early stage with the definition of a career objective, where to search for suitable job openings and internship offers, how to apply properly, and how to go through a job interview successfully, IU Career Services established a series of recurring career workshops. In addition, company visits are organized and an annual company contact fair ("Career Day") is held on IU's campus. It goes without saying that a lot of information has been produced on the topic "career." Whole careers have been founded on it (career counseling and personnel coaching). Consequently, there is ample opportunity to get help through trainings, workshops, and lectures. In the end, however, a lot of work remains with the individual looking for just the right professional challenge: starting, fostering and expanding personal networks, retrieving information from prospective employers, researching job portals, scanning the job market sections in newspapers, writing applications and composing, lay-outing, and continuously up-dating the resume. Within the means of its Career Services Officer, however, IU will always actively support its current students and alumni in this regard and concerns and recommendations will always be dealt with swiftly and conscientiously.
